Valentine's Day Mantel in Red, White, Rhinestones & Gold

The most romantic time of year for decorating is here and time for me to share the changes I made to our mantel for the very special occasion.
Here is the mantel candlescape with hearts and a theme of red, white, rhinestones and gold.


 A few of the things that were part of the Christmas look managed to stay around for the new Valentine's day do.
You can see the centerpiece tray, if you missed it here.

A fabric heart, that I made last year, is centered in a vintage gold frame as the feature of the mantel decor.

Two brass hearts and one treasured gold locket complete the arrangement with my handmade pillow inside.

 Pearl head pins suspend the hearts leaving only the tiniest holes behind.


Prettier than a plain old picture in red, white and gold.

A few scattered petals make any romantic creation complete.

Vintage bottles always look prettier with some rhinestone glam.

I moved the gold glass heart from the tray on the suitcase where it was for Christmas and placed it on the Venetian tray here.

A simplified vignette with a pop of red is featured to the right of the hearth to keep with the color scheme.

And then I made one last li'l change..I think I like it better!


This was how it looked for the Holiday.

Now, I'll leave you with a simple edit in black and white.

Love on a Victorian Vanity Tray

A pair of vintage hearts, one a cherished brass heirloom, the other  a vintage rhinestone pin always find their way into our Valentine decor. They make each display look so very special.
 A few personal additions make this year's Valentine's day centerpiece a new favorite for me.



 A vintage Victorian vanity tray is the base for my LOVE vignette.

The mirror is still dusted with snow from the Christmas display that it held.

The card plays "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Bros. and makes my heart sigh every time it's opened. The mini canvas art is one that I made for last Valentine's day. It was a part of our Valentine's day, dinner for two, tablescape....and yes, that's my honey and me!

 I think it looks just right with the winter theme that's still going on in our living room. 

The mantel and fireplace are all dressed up in red and white and waiting for you to see. 

This glammed up pillar candle on my vintage, venetian tray is a peek for you to see.


 I'll be back to share it all with you...it looks really, really pretty!

Winter Window Candlescape with a little bit of Love!

Christmas may be over but it's still winter so I changed our bay window to a winter candlescape theme.

My, little, white sled, an assortment of votives and some shiny green leaves, from our camellia tree, were the beginnings of the creation for the new look. 
Red and white are almost always my go to colors. 

Our, old, white painted, fireplace screen adds an interesting depth to the background in the window.

I love a red berry wreath especially when adorned with hearts.

The owl that was on display as a part of the window's Christmas decor is sticking around for the rest of winter. He's just too cute to put away!

An inverted ironstone compote with a red transferware plate created an interesting base for the vignette on top.

Red transferware saucers are placed underneath  many of the votives.

Candles are always just so romantic any ole time of the year.

Epsom salt covers the outside of this votive jar.

A canvas banner of love made it's debut again for Valentine's day.

I think the white rustic crate really makes a great impact to the overall setting.

Another piece of transferware is tucked inside the hanging lantern for a little surprise.

A bouquet of miniature silk roses hangs in a spot that needed just a little something.

 The Waterford heart came from one of my sweet girls for Christmas several years ago. It always makes me sigh when I come across it every year!
I'm looking forward to creating a new tablescape and celebrating an extra special day of  "Love" this year.

An Evening Of Romance & Love

I've been so excited about pulling together a beautiful, Valentine's Day, tablescape for my honey and I'm happy to finally be able to share it with you.
 This is our romantic tablescape that is waiting to celebrate our very special day tomorrow!

It has lots of details and layers as you can see.

Jute, burlap and hand scripted ribbon gather our new flatware that is centered on each place setting.

A battenburg napkin is folded in half with it's ends tucked under a burlap charger.

It adds even more interest, with the floral table cloth, place mat and dinnerware to complete the  layered look.

Little hand twisted buds accent the charger's rim.

Vintage, brown transferware, plates are separated with a deep red plate in between.

I found these tiny canvases and stands in Walmart for just 99 cents each and added the art work that I made in "Pic Monkey" to make it really special.
That's me and my honey!

Little heart charms hang off each crystal wine glass which compliments the details on the"Hampton Forge" flatware.


A wire plate holder, filled with petals, holds the vase with red camellia's from our tree.

A straw woven place mat and brown transferware dish add a few more layers to the centerpiece.

I like to add a little something special to the chairs when I can and made these 6" flowers with two, old, pillow cases. They were leftover from covers that had seen their day.

I used the entire pillowcase without even cutting it up!

I started by gathering it from the open end then just gathered and bunched up the rest. Then I tied it where my hand was holding it into place with a long strand of jute and then secured it to each chair.

Three crystal candle sticks with prisms sit off to one side of our very large table set just for two.

Epsom salt fills the centers of each bobeche with one fabric bud. The centered one is holding a key to my heart!

The trio of long stemmed roses and wrapped with white satin ribbon isn't real but, still adds romance to the tablescape and that's good enough for me.

Six, vintage "salt cellars" are perfect votive holders for the "chocolate candles" that surround the centerpiece.

Here's a peek at the cards that I chose to remember another special Valentine's day.

This one is my favorite!

Here's what's ready to be popped into the oven...chicken and eggplant parm. Two of "Honey's" favorites. They'll be the main dishes, tomorrow, for our very romantic meal.

Now,  just when I thought all pics were done, I decided to make a little change. You know, when something just doesn't feel just right, ...right?  The centerpiece was that something!
 I used the bottom of this glass storage jar to use as a shorter vase.


 I like the new version much, much more!

I just couldn't bring myself to light the chocolate candles....would you have?

Now, I really can't wait for tomorrow!
