Valentine's Day Mantel in Red, White, Rhinestones & Gold

The most romantic time of year for decorating is here and time for me to share the changes I made to our mantel for the very special occasion.
Here is the mantel candlescape with hearts and a theme of red, white, rhinestones and gold.

 A few of the things that were part of the Christmas look managed to stay around for the new Valentine's day do.

A fabric heart, that I made last year, is centered in a vintage gold frame as the feature of the mantel decor.

Two brass hearts and one treasured gold locket complete the arrangement with my handmade pillow inside.

 Pearl head pins suspend the hearts leaving only the tiniest holes behind.

Prettier than a plain old picture in red, white and gold.

A few scattered petals make any romantic creation complete.

Vintage bottles always look prettier with some rhinestone glam.

I moved the gold glass heart from the tray on the suitcase where it was for Christmas and placed it on the Venetian tray here.

A simplified vignette with a pop of red is featured to the right of the hearth to keep with the color scheme.

And then I made one last li'l change..I think I like it better!

This was how it looked for the Holiday.

Love on a Victorian Vanity Tray

A pair of vintage hearts, one a cherished brass heirloom, the other  a vintage rhinestone pin always find their way into our Valentine decor. They make each display look so very special.

 A few personal additions make this year's Valentine's day centerpiece a new favorite for me.

 A vintage Victorian vanity tray is the base for my LOVE vignette.

The mirror is still dusted with snow from the Christmas display that it held.

The card plays "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Bros. and makes my heart sigh every time it's opened. The mini canvas art is one that I made for last Valentine's day. It was a part of our Valentine's day, dinner for two, tablescape....and yes, that's my honey and me!

 I think it looks just right with the winter theme that's still going on in our living room. 

The mantel and fireplace are all dressed up in red and white and waiting for you to see. 

This glammed up pillar candle on my vintage, venetian tray is a peek for you to see.

 I'll be back to share it all with you...it looks really, really pretty!

A Little LOVE on a Banner and Vintage Suitcases in our Bay Window

We really are lucky to have found our house for it, truly, has some great features and the bay window in our kitchen is definitely one of them!

There hasn't been a display in this window that I haven't fallen in love with, yet and this Valentine's day one can be added to my list.

 A "Country Living" tablecloth was used for the decorative base.

A Valentine snow couple, a pair of salt dough hearts and faux silk roses (which come in real handy when real ones are not an option) create the vintage suitcase vignette.

The red rose, shadow box, framed heart was an Etsy find and the plaque was a $2 Goodwill score.

The shabby ribbon, adorning the votive, is left over fabric from place mats that I recently made. A flower in the shape of a heart was made from five, silk, rose petals, a tiny rose bud with a few faux leaves and a single pearl. It added a little "pop of red" to the heart, grapevine wreath.

My girls are "loves of my life!"

The "no sew" banner of Love couldn't have been easier to make. Scissors, some canvas, craft paint, a stencil and hot glue were used to make the letters...a clothesline rope suspends it and some jute twine with hand stamped ribbons accent it on the ends and in between...easy peasy!

Then I was worried that the tablecloth would fade from being exposed to the amount of light that it would be getting here, on a daily basis, and I decided to make a bit of a change.

This vintage, crocheted, table cover is in the window, now...

and I made a few changes on top of the suitcases, too.

Love birds in a winter nest and a single, faux rosebud that came from the bouquet in the milk glass vase created the final display.

And there's one last thing that I love about the change, with using the crocheted tablecloth, is that I love the way it hides a very distracting receptacle outlet!

A Shabby Hanging Heart Pillow

I've had this project for, literally, almost four years, now. It's been on my project board to make it. It was another one of those things that I just couldn't get to....until just the other day. I'm happy to be able to cross it off my list and say, "it's finally done" and I am quite happy with the results!

Here it is hanging on this chippy old door in our entry. ( sanding the beige layer of old paint to reveal the creamy white base color is another thing on my project list that just might get done, soon!)

My colors had to blend in with the decor that we have so red and white and beige is what I chose.

I used fabrics that I had on hand to avoid running around town in search for something more perfect. I really wanted to get it done!
I appliqued the red heart and white heart fabrics with a zig zag stitch on my sewing machine. And "yes" I said sewing machine...you all know that I use hot glue whenever I can!

This sweet fabric came from Walmart.

I used my stamps (you've seen them before, too) to add some romantic script to the white fabric and  linen ribbon.

The original heart pillow had a rusty bell on the bottom. I had a few of these brass and rhinestone beads on hand and just  used them instead.

I decided to move the pillow to our ladder to create this vignette.

 I would love to use real roses in my decor, but to run into town (25 mins. away) would have been just too frivolous since I didn't need to make a trip.

This one doesn't look so bad!
