A Shabby Glam Rustic Heart on a White Twig Wreath

Hearts, Love and Valentine's Day Decor
a shabby glam, rustic heart of love and an update to our white, twig wreath on our front door!

So, I found this rustic heart on Etsy, last summer, and just had to have it...it wasn't a cheap score like most of my finds, but I just had to have it!!!

It started out like this....plain, teal and crusty rusty and so-o-o appealing even it it's as found state.

But, because I'm a glam and glitz kinda girl...
(can I still say girl, when I'm over 60, now?  I think so...after all..."Forever Young" is my motto)
I just had to add some glitz!

then.... a little love phrase!

Here's how to add script to your project.

Start with a copy, just the right size, for for your project....no need to flip your image for this transfer process.

rub on some chalk to the backside (any color will do)

Then tape it in place on your wood, metal or tin project. Outline and fill in the image to release the chalk onto your project. My surface was very rigid, so, I did the best that I could!

See how it then gave me a guide to paint over for a permanent copy.

After the paint was added, I sanded some off for a more time worn look.

Here's how it is all done!

 Hanging on our front door.

Then I added to our white, twig wreath. that I salvaged from our Christmas Mantel Decor.

VOILA..."True Love"

JP, I always end up here. I look at all the entries to a party and I end up at your blog. :) You have the best stuff. This is incredible. I wonder if I could do something like this with fabric? I just love this (darn - no tag sales right now. We have snow outside). Keep all this great inspiration coming... Linda

Very beautiful! I do the same rubbing technique to transfer words or images to my projects, too. Never thought of chalk, I usually use a pencil. Chalk gives more options...especially when working on something darker where pencil wouldn't show up as well. Thanks for the tip!
