A Forgotten Tablescape with Daisies

I thought maybe you might like to see this, long forgotten post, from the summer of 2013 when we first moved into our new home in N.C.   
 I can't believe that I forgot to share it with you!

We met a wonderful couple when we first moved into our North Carolina home. Mike and Eileen were the first ones to welcome us, to our new neighborhood, with open arms. A thoughtful bottle of wine with an immediate invite to come over to sit on their porch and see their gorgeous inlet view. 

An immediate friendship was made and a hospitality payback was due! 

 Daisies were the featured highlight, on the table, for our evening of getting acquainted.

My favorite, red and white, tablecloth from Country Living and daisy napkin rings were the inspiration for the beginning of summer tablescape.

  A trio of white ironstone pitchers held daisy and hydrangea bouquets.

 The daylight pics were really pretty.
 I so wish that I had taken some by the gorgeous candlelight!

A single, vintage, candlestick adorned with jute and twine complimented the centerpiece display.

Four, ivory damask, place mats (just $3 from the Salvation Army) added another layer to the place settings with daisy napkin rings.

Another $3 find...three sets of vintage, silver plate, salt and pepper shakers in a tiny, one inch, size.

"Grandma's," silver plate, flatware came out to show off their splendor...

as did her sparkling crystal.

 I see a lot of changes in the room since we first moved in.

 A collection of brown transferware in my wheelbarrow was my simplest bay window display that I've done.

 "Chef Ralph," you know him as my honey, made us his "to die for" chicken Francese. He makes it with sherry and little, secret touches...it's always a tender, juicy, mouth-watering hit!

The meal was a success and a bond was made, that keeps us close, with our dear, sweet friends to this day!

An Easter Tablescape, Rabbits, Pearls, Baskets & Fake Bunnies

  Just when I think I can't compete with last year's tablescape I somehow manage to pull it off!

  
This is a peak at what I did.

My, hand painted, lazy susan was the inspiration for the white and gold color scheme.

This is the place setting...it's almost all white... except for the hint of red in the striped place mats.  They were quick and easy "no sews."

A string of tiny pearls surrounds each white, "egg carton," basket.

I used these napkin rings as little votive holders at each place setting.

 A little dab of hot glue holds the addition of pearls to glam up the ones I used for the napkin rings.

Silver plate, engraved flatware are from "Beattie's" past....she was my dear, sweet grandmother.

Mismatched pieces...just for fun.

I added a touch of ------ to the rims of the shiney, vintage, silver coasters.....a Goodwill find for under $1.

A vintage, foil, bunny rabbit is added to each setting... sure looks like chocolate, doesn't it?

Sadly, I only had three of these cuties to use. 

And then my head rang a bell....I'd just do exactly what I did for my transferware plates.

I used her in the centerpiece last year, too!

Glamorous pearls are so often a favorite prop to use.

 I placed one more votive on top of the candle pillar, filled it with some white, shredded paper, one of the gold, foil, chocolate eggs and draped it with some more pearls.

 My vintage, Westclox clock was a surprise birthday gift from my little sister, Linda....not a day goes by that it doesn't make me think of her and her sweetness!

I like to accent the chairs to pull the look all together. Each one was adorned with a white, burlap tie, some faux roses (wish they were real) and a tiny, cloth bunny.
Well, maybe not!

 You see I only had one of the bunnies, too, so...can you guess???
Yup, I faked the other three!

The finishing touch to pull the theme all together was to add a touch of spring with some glam on the chandy with some pearls

and some spring flowers.

And now that my project is done I really feel like singing...."Happy" by Pharrell!!!

A Formal Christmas Celebration & Our Dining Decor

Since, this post was created after Christmas last year and didn't make all of the "rounds", I'm re-posting it for all that may have missed it.

I hope that you all enjoyed your celebrations with your loved ones for Christmas. Ours was a beautiful one with family and friends here in N.C; but we missed our girls and boys more than ever! It just wasn't complete without them, so I'm sharing a lot of pics to show them what they missed this year :(

We managed to squeeze an extra table, to be able to accommodate twelve, in the dining area of our kitchen.

It worked out perfectly, with no one's back to look at!

Folding chairs were "formalized" with quick and easy covers made from dollar store, rectangle, plastic, table cloths.

 Cut one table cover in half.
  Drape it over the top of the chair back.
Tuck the seat side through and adjust the length to hit the floor.
Gather the backside and secure it with tape or string or ribbon.
Add your own accents with a bow or seasonal touches.
Fabric would be even nicer, but cost was my choice here
 50 cents per chair!

Our own chairs needed a little touch of sparkle, too.

Half of the napkins, with heirloom flatware, were wrapped with a trim of lace and secured with a large, white pearl and pearl head pin.

The other half were adorned with my thrift store, upscaled, metal napkin rings. 

White with glitter updated them from their original red and green ugliness!

My, great grandmother's, linen, tablecloth came out of storage to be admired for the day.

Emma Charlotta Knuckey was her name!

 That table's centerpiece was made from last year's thrift store find...this little, golden sleigh.

My treasured gift from my "Miss Kris" is the golden votive that sits within it.....the vintage necklace just adds that perfect touch of silvery bling!

Our white, garden lantern centered the table in the round....

with a pair of my mother's 1940's ornaments and my rhinestone, star ring for even more festive glam.

Epsom salts and glitter are sprinkled at the base.

Gold heart ornaments with rhinestone buttons added more charm here and there. They were gifts for all of my "girlfriends" as a memento of the day!

Our precious, little, dinner bell made it's seasonal debut.

 The chandy with it's festive glam...

 with pearls and ice in ivory and white....

 and golden heart for someone special.

 This is our bay window's touch of icy sparkle.... a mix of old and new!

 This picture is from my terrarium post before my craving for the day's "pops of red!"

Grandma's, crimson, crystal prisms were the first additions to my adding the reds.

The little, winter nest, with snow and pearls, is the perfect home for our little "love birds."
It's our very first ornament memento!

I tossed a few snowballs into the scene :)

and my glammed up church with rhinestones and gold beads...

with lots of candles flickering in the mix.

This was our beverage station for the day.

Champagne punch for Holiday Cheer.

And this is our table, today, with our Christmas gift for this year from our little "Miss Kris!"

he was my man of the day with his cleaning and cooking and cleaning some more!

And now that this big post is over, I'll be resting today for my next really big task...the clubhouse decor for the New Year's Eve 2014 Bash!
