I found this red, old and crusty washstand a few months ago and had an idea to make it really unique!
I wanted to leave it in it's natural state with it's primitive, chippy, old, red paint.
But, I was dying to add a little something different...something out of the norm for furniture and still rustic, but with a little bit of "Shabby Glam!"
A few photos of when I first got it.
Now, are you ready?
Do you want to see it?
Are you really ready?
Am I teasing you?
I had to wait a really long time for the knobs to arrive.
Oh, boy....I sure hope you like it!
DRUM ROLL......
Ta-da-da-da-da-da!!!!!

"Sunday Best"
glamorous, rhinestone knobs, now, make it super special!
I lined the drawers...one with fabric and one with the paper and coated them with "mod podge" to make them easy to keep clean.
This is the "ready made" burlap that I used to sew the ruffles and twisted accents.
With my excitement to finish my new piece and never having made layered ruffles before I had to cheat, a wee bit, on the way they were done.
After hot glueing on my first row of ruffles, I realized that I needed a "base" to attach the next row to, duh!
I glued the second ruffle onto the "base." The top ruffle is mostly out of this shot :(
I creased the papers, prior to cutting, to get my exact size. Then used "mod podge" and applied several coats to the drawer and inside the bottom.
Oh, and a much needed tip for sewing on burlap or any other loose weave fabrics...
layer wax paper under your work to prevent the fabric from being "eaten"by your machine. It's a mess to get it un-jammed!!!
And if you thought I baked the beautiful, apple pie...I can't lie... I cheated! Had to pick up a store bought one, for times sake. Looks yummy though, right?
Well, gotta go off to my shop to create a listing...I have no place to put it :(

so, on the market it will go!
Til next time...stayed tuned for our "Pumpkin Family" DIY for my next post!

I LOVE it, Janet! Great job keeping its shabby look yet updating it with the paper and fabric. I think you chose the perfect paper and fabric, too. Ruffled burlap ~ who knew! I'll have to look for that.
