An Icy Winter Wreath with a Burlap Nest

As much as I love living in North Carolina, now, I still love looking at snow and ice. Thus, my desire to create this year's winter wreath!

I found this nice, pre-lit, realistic one with pine cones at my nearby Habitat and scapped it up for a cheap $8.
I used lots of Snow-tex and glitter to enhance it and bring it to life!

Lots and lots of wintery snow, all over and on my great big burlap bow.

At the dollar store I found strands of plastic icicles. I cut them one by one and added them here and there.

Then I made a little, burlap nest filled with "snow" and added an icicle strand around the rim.
I found the perfect "fluffiest" cardinal to snuggle in the nest!
I'm so happy with the way it turned out and the fact that I'll get to display it for the entire winter season!
I'll be working on the inside decor and will be back to reveal it soon!

 Love, Hugs and Kisses,
JP

Olde World Santas by Me/JP

I'm off to a late start at re-creating my "Olde World Santas." However, I'm excited about getting creative making more versions of the ones that I designed back in the 90's. I made and sold quite a few of them to family, friends and customers of mine and wonder how many are still being displayed each Christmas season.

Handpainted faces and genuine lambswool accents are what make them a l'il bit special.

I made lots of different styles with varied fabrics and sizes both short and fat and tall and skinny. Some with sacks of burlap and sacks of gold, many were much more elaborate and all were OOAK designs.

Their bodies are molded of stiffened fabric over poster board cones.

The inside is finished with hand stamped script.

These are a few of my old, 4" versions.

Not so fancy, but still quite cute!

What a busy week this is going to be...

The newest in the line up, dressed in red....I just love his mustache!

Oh, no....I forgot his buttons!

Another handsome fellow.

A line-up of a few more made today...no time for a proper set up, for off to sell them they have to go!

Now, I'm off to work on some of my drop cloth versions for you lovers of white!

You can find these @ The Northrop Antiques Mall in Southport, NC and @ The Red House Specialty Shop in Shallotte, NC or message me to have one shipped to your door!

 Love, Hugs and Kisses,
JP

Another Glamorous Holiday Display Frame

I'm just mad about frames....especially old, gold beauties and
I just love the vast amount of selections and the endless ways to use them!

This was my creation from last year....it's my cranberry adorned version.

This is my Holiday creation for this year, that can so be used year 'round. Can you see it in your bedroom holding a collection of cherished belongings?

Glass pearl necklaces create the strands for displays.

A few of my special Holiday collections.

The holly embossed detail makes it even more perfect as a Holiday frame.

A close-up of the washstand vignette. I'm really loving brass and gold, especially when they are tarnished and old.

and "grandma's" kitty!

She's crazed and chippy and 19th century old and she's got some green eyes, doesn't she?

Hopefully, will make someone very happy....it's going into my shop space tomorrow!
Gosh, I hate parting with my creations, don't you?
Now, I'm off to Hobby Lobby to get some supplies to complete my new "Olde World Santa's"....I'll be sharing them with you real soon!

 Love, Hugs and Kisses,
JP

Winter White Grapevine Wreath

Having just returned home from my 3 weeks in N.Y. I  have, finally, been able to start making some items to sell in my space and this white winter wreath is ready to go.

No, it's not snowing here in N.C! It was 68 degrees when I took this pic a few days ago....it's just some fun editing with picmonkey!

I started a a basic, brown, grapevine wreath and gave it a little facelift with some white, spray paint, a great big bow, a white rope nest and a little, red, feathered friend.

A bedding of book page curls and white, pearl eggs make it a little bit special!

And then, two days later, an addition came....a touch of lace, I thought was needed

This pic turned out blurry and I forgot to check the images on my camera before I hustled it to the shop :(
But, you get the effect and I got a lesson learned...don't be in such a hurry to say things are fini!

Gotta go make another...someone special ;) said she loved this one!

Done ;) and a bit more special!

 Love, Hugs and Kisses,
JP
