Birch Bark, Fresh Greens & Glam on Our Front Door

Well, today, I started playing around with my Christmas decor. I just couldn't hold off any longer!
I'm a bit overwhelmed with projects planned and which ones to work on first. I tend to flip flop from room to room finding inspirations, having "light bulb moments,"jotting down notes and writing lists of things needed to get them done.
Needless to say today the house was a mess!!!

But, this is one thing that did get done.

Our old, white birch, pocket got a new coat of white paint and some fresh cut greens from the yard.

It looked like this in 2012.
You and see the flashback post...here.

Next, I finished it with a pretty, red bow

and a key with some rhinestone glam.

Simple and sweet.

One project down and a ton more to go and oh, I've got our Christmas Eve dinner for 16 to plan!
What theme should I go with this year? How will we fit seating for all of our guests in our small kitchen space? What tablecover should I use? Do I have enough to complete each place setting? I need to borrow chairs!

Gonna go write more lists!!!

The Midas Touch on Our Mantel

A recent decision to steal the old white ladder from above our mantel and use it in the kitchen (for a recent update) made it necessary to re-do my last fall one with...

A Midas Touch!

I love our new, soft green wall color with this Paris print that I upscaled a while ago.

The print once looked like this.....
then I added white, paint marker to overlay the words and hot glued on the button glam.

This look had been around since early September and was getting really old for me.

This was where the ladder was that I just moved to our bay window in the kitchen.

This is the new full view.

Last week I saw some beautiful, gold painted, bottles by Jennifer Rizzo.
I was so inspired that I made a few of my own.

Gold, craft paint, simply brushed on and aged with the touch of a steel wool pad......
voila the Midas Touch with glam!

A cast iron clock sits on top my grandfather's bible from his many years of ministry.

There are frames and candlesticks in white and gold and crystal glam with painted pine cones and acorns in the mix.

My antique, cast iron, bank is such a treasure from my honey a long time ago!

This is my grandmother's old chair that recently got a new coat of paint and a bit of distressing...

with a glammed up burlap pillow that I posted about some time ago.

A little vignette sits on top of an ugly black speaker that looks so much better with a little help of some layers of burlap, embroidered cotton and vintage lace and tied with jute and twine!

"Grandma Bea's" old, gold Victorian, mirror reflects the mantel so beautifully...I know she would be proud!

For a peek @ my beloved Grandma Bea her post is here.

Tell me what you think of my new mantel accent. It's a vinyl applique.....well, not really!
It's a little photo shop flourish that I added from "pic monkey."

Since our mantel is such a bright white and my beautiful washstand and mirror, over our couch, are black the mantel side always needs a touch of it to balance out the room.

Ughh, how wish we could get rid of that fan.....we never use it!

I'm thinking of ordering one....would you?

New Fall Window Dressing & Fresh Wall Color

I really liked our fall window dressing that we've had since early September, but I was getting tired of looking at it for so long.
It was time for a new look.

And since I never tire of using ladders in room decor I decided to remove the one from over our mantel and use it here. I'm glad to have my blog to have pics to reflect back on and see  the many ways I've staged them. You can use my search bar to see them if you wish!

This time it's an herb drying/display rack and handy place to keep necessities for trimming and watering.

Rustic, chippy ladder love!

A keepsake magnet tugs at my heart.

The rusty, vintage scale stayed with a little change and hangs off to the right this time around.

I  changed the valances from the Battenburg ones and hung country, striped kitchen towels over the rod for more of a countrified look.

This is the new wall color. My honey and I painted it in 2 1/2 hours this weekend!

The old yellow paint was here when we moved in. I'm glad that we finally changed it!

It's much more subtle and photographs well.

I chose a color that co-ordinated with the color of the tile's grout.

This was a little project that I made last year.....you can find it here.

In a few more weeks this will be filled with Christmas decor....I'm dreaming up it's theme right now!

Hope you'll be watching for the new window-do.....I'm just not one that will make the changes until after Thanksgiving has passed!
